Satan shops at C&A ... or something ...

Thanks to my friend Viv for the following review:

I had expected The Devil Wears Prada to be light and frothy (had chosen it on purpose to bring me back from the brink after seeing Children of Men* two weeks ago) - and it certainly fulfilled its promise. Although an enjoyable fairy tale, I felt that it stretched the bounds of credibility a little too far, so that at times it was in danger of pinging into women’s magazine territory.
Having said that, I stayed the course quite happily due to the performances of Meryl Streep as Miranda, the over-the-top editor of the fashion magazine Runway, Anne Hathaway as her newly hired over-the-top cute wannabe-fashion journalist Andy Sachs (get the 5^th Ave connection?), and the far more believable Emily Blunt as Emily, the nose-out-of-joint PA.
But for me, the film was saved from its silliness by Stanley Tucci as the camp Nigel , whose performance made me laugh despite his reminding me of those awful Orange ads.
Fortunately, it’s impossible for me to write a plot spoiler because I can’t remember the slight curves of the plot, but if you are looking for an undemanding glimpse of the fashion scene, some pretty stylish clothes and a few giggles, this film is for you.
